Giveaway time!

Picked up some Ulta3s*— and they’re for you!

(*Okay, one of them is an NYC, but that’s just a repackaged Ulta3. It’s a tricksy spy Ulta3, infiltrating non-pharmacy bases. You have to love it for that.)

I was hoping to find Earl Grey and Cocoa Bean, because I know a few people are after them, but the Pulse Pharmacy I went to was sadly quite raided.

This set is made of my favourite colour palette: cherry red, pale blue, and pale pink. I love wearing these colours all together or in pairs (I’ve  only posted a blue and red outfit so far), particularly because they’re commonly considered to be Colours That Clash. I personally think they look rather spiffing together if you have the right shades and the right textures.

I’ve also decorated a Moleskine cahier in navy and cream, which is one of my other favourite colour combinations (particularly when I’m in a preppy student mood).

I’ve used a few bits and pieces lying around my room. There’s a piece of a print of a map of Paris; a scrap of a letter from 1942; a wooden button; a bow I made out of tattered chiffon (from an old high school hair accessory), a strip of lace peeking out here and there, from my Year 12 formal dress; a felt flower with a diamante centre from an Alannah Hill cardigan. (This is the cardigan here.)

Let’s talk boring admin stuff.

This giveaway is open to readers in Australia only. (I don’t think I have any readers overseas but if I do — hello! Sorry that this giveaway isn’t open to you; I’m afraid I’m a bit short on cash this month and can’t afford postage outside of Australia. Next time, I promise.)

To enter, you have to do one thing:

1. Leave me one comment. It can be anything. It can be a simple ‘hi’; it can be chatty; it can be a copy and paste from a Wikipedia article. (I would love this, because I have a warped sense of ‘awesome’.) Only one comment will count per person, unless you left a note on my ‘should I do a giveaway?’ post prior to the 28th of November 2010.

Please leave your email address so that I can contact you if you win — it won’t be published or used for any other purpose. A blog address/Vogue username would be fine, too ^^. (Or say who you are if I know you in real life. Maybe leave me a message on my FB wall saying you entered?)

This giveaway ends on December 12, 2010 at 11.59pm, AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time). Comments will be allocated numbers in the order in which they are received, and I will use random.org to generate the winning numbers on December 13. The winner will be notified via teh interwebz (email, blog comment, Facebook, PM on the Vogue forums) on the same day. The book and nail polish will be posted to the winner in a 500g Australia Post Express satchel.

Good luck!

    it amazes me every week

    • I love Postsecret! I want to hunt through the books to see if anyone’s left a postcard but haven’t really had the chance to. And your comment just reminded me to check today’s update — thanks! 🙂

  2. Hi Andrea!

  3. Cool giveaway – I love the book 🙂

Here is my cut and paste

Callan Francis Mulvey (born 24 February 1975) is an Australian actor.
    [edit] Biography

Mulvey was born in New Zealand and is of Maori heritage. His family moved to Sydney, Australia when he was eight years old. Best known for his role as Mark Moran on the popular Australian drama Underbelly, Mulvey attended Balgowlah High School (New South Wales) along with other Heartbreak High cast members Jon Pollard and Alle Brunning.

In the mid-nineties, he was a member / sponsored by Manly Blades Inline Skating. His skating, like fellow cast member Jon Pollard, was featured extensively in Heartbreak High.

Mulvey was in a relationship with fellow Heartbreak High co-star Lara Cox for several years and the pair were rumored to have married secretly in 1997 but the claims have never been substantiated.

Mulvey was injured in a serious car accident in 2003,[1] in a head-on collision at 100 km/h. He was trapped in the vehicle for almost an hour until he could be freed from the wreckage. The mid section of his face collapsed, an incision was made from ear to ear over the top of his scalp, his face “pulled down” and 17 titanium plates were then inserted to repair the fractures to his face and jaw. His left knee and ankle were badly fractured and he lost vision in one eye. He re-entered the spotlight for the release of Thunderstruck.

Mulvey had guest spots on Home and Away (as Johnny Cooper) during 2006 to 2008 and McLeod’s Daughters during 2007.

He starred in the Australian underworld crime show Underbelly as Mark Moran, and currently appears in police series Rush as Sgt. Brendan “Josh” Joshua.

In July 2010 it was announced Callan had become engaged to schoolteacher Rachel Thomas, whose father is a New Zealander.

  4. I posted my first comment on your page earlier and didn’t realise by posting enabled to be in the draw for the giveaway!

  5. Hey! I found your blog on VF! Love it… I’m trying to keep mine alive – I need something to stimulate my mind between applying for jobs, preparing and attending for interviews… also short on cash, so i thought starting my own little blog would be the perfect way to expand my knowledge and look for new hobbies. lol

  6. Hello!

I commented on the other post about having nothing to say, and alas, things have not changed. I still adore your blog, I was still prompted to comment through the giveaway (I’m a sucker for freebies) and I’m still terribly slack at commenting. One day, I promise, I will comment every single post. And I’ll write paragraphs and paragraph, complete with personal anecdotes and plethoras of links. And you’ll get sick of me. You will probably see my name and roll your eyes. One day.

  7. Hi hun, your blog is really sweet and whimsical…here is my little wikepedia copy and paste (with a little surprise fact) Dogs in Space is a 1986 Australian film set in the “little band scene” in Melbourne in 1978. It was directed by Richard Lowenstein and starred Michael Hutchence as Sam. Alannah Hill also had a small role in the film.

  8. loving your blog and your huge collection of Alannah Hill! hehe

  9. Been following you’re blog for some time now and i have to say it’s one of the best blogs I’ve come across on vogue. Really hoping i win! 🙂

  10. Hello ^^. Ooh, Ulta3s are my favourite cheapie nail polish brand! 🙂 I just read your Flubber nail post and it makes me sad that you don’t like purple, it’s my favourite colour, haha. Malificent does look pretty freaky though, but I don’t think she beats the Queen in Snow White. Now she was quite a terror, she was. I still don’t like watching Snow White to this day.

    • Haha! The Queen in Snow White was pretty scary but I don’t think I found her too terrifying when I was a child. I did, however, inspect apples very carefully… so she probably did have a lasting influence, lol ^^;.

  11. Love what you’ve done to the notebook! Navy and cream is one of my favourite combos too 🙂 I’m mandstar87 on VF btw 🙂 xx

  12. Ooooh! I don’t have too much to say, other than… Navy and cream. Drool/die.

  13. I’m so addicted to Ulta3s, it’s ridiculous! After I foolishly paid full price for OPI’s (and was bitterly disappointed) I was SO happy to find so many recommendations for Ulta, and discovering that they were as good as the reviews was pure perfection! So in that regard, thank you for an amazing giveaway! 😀

    xx Kit

  14. HIya 🙂
I used to buy a lot of Ulta 3 nail polishes but stopped when I wasn’t working in pharmacy any more (damn no discount).
That notebook is cute, love what you’ve done!

  15. Just spotted this giveaway in time! love it =)

  16. Hello! I just bumped into your blog via good ol’ VF! Woo…

Am loving your outfit posts!! Am totally into the whole girlynes!

Not much to say, except that I loveee Ulta3! (Except I STILL need to find Early grey!) As for the 3 colours that you’re giving away, I’ve never tried any of them so if I’m fortunate enough to be the lucky winner, I’ll be very excited to try it!

  17. I love the way you’ve decorated the moleskine! You’ve inspired me to make use of the bits and pieces I’ve been hoarding 🙂

  18. Hey,
Your colour combination’s of nail polish are great! Did you know that Red and blue together(of course they have to be the right shade) are contrasting colours which, in design, are considered to be a colour scheme in themselves! There are also monochromatic, and harmonious colour schemes amongst others, they are great, you should look them up on Google images and get some fab new ideas for your awesome wardrobe, also, one of the principles of design is balance, you have that perfected beautifully in your outfits with everything matching nicely to the tiniest detail, you should look up some stuff on colour schemes and elements and principles of design for some new inspiration!
I love your random and humorous way of writing, you really have a gift, let it take you places and be all you can be!
    may God Bless you!

    • Thanks for your lovely comment! I’m not a design student but I have a (very very) rudimentary knowledge of colour theory and design… only from high school art, though; we had fantastic art teachers. I should definitely read up on it, though — I need some new outfits and I’m pretty sure I could use some inspiration!
